Day-to-day maintenance starts with the removal of rubbish (litter, leaves, pine needles etc.) from the pitch. The litter is first blown into a pile, then removed with a plastic or rubber rake.
Brushing is essential to keep the pitch even as it reduces ‘compacting’ of the mat, discouraging algae and moss growth. It’s advisable to use approved weed-killers and we also advise that you invest in a good drag brush.
During day-to-day maintenance, the pitch itself (seams and line markings) and the sprinkler installation must also be checked for faults. If any faults or deficiencies are detected, the supplier must be notified immediately so that they can be rectified.
When a pitch is delivered, the sports club or local authority is given detailed instructions on maintenance, together with a day-to-day maintenance handbook.
